A boat procession in Marceddì!

Finally, we have come to a new decision, to leave for Sweden a week from now and start up the restaurant in late June!

We have bought new tickets with Lufthansa that are said to go regularly, but the trip will be long… overnight in Milano and a stop in Frankfurt and Stockholm. In Stockholm, we’ll have to travel from the airport in the north to the port in the south, since the only flight a day to Gotland are full until 15 of June! (Maybe a hint to put in another flight??) Also Sardinia we have to leave the day before because the first flight arrives too late for the connection… a bit heavy with small children but at least better than being stuck in a car for five days!
That said, you can surely understand I’m a bit busy these days…. preparing everything with the children around the legs! (My companion has found a short time job, and is away all days…)

But I’ll give you a taste of the feast of “La Madonna di Bonaria” in Marceddi that happens in August every year! Usually, I’m never here in August, but a couple of years ago I managed to skip away for a week, and stayed with my fisherman friend Davide’s lovely and welcoming family in the port of Marceddi. If you have the opportunity, you must go and spend some nights there, it’s such a nice celebration!!
The first evening there’s a procession in the countryside from Terralba to the small fisherman village Marceddi, with a lot of people walking and loads of Vespas companioning! When you arrive in Marceddi the mopeds are lining the streets making a great racket with the motors and horns!! There’s a big market with loads of food and drink, music, dance…
The day after the procession is in the water with people dressed in traditional clothes and the boats ornamented with flowers and flags! Such joy and fellowship!
